Artist Statement #3

My final animation project is a story about someone drunk driving and eventually regretting their choices. It starts out with someone who has been drinking and needs way to get home. The person chooses to drive drunk and does several things that are against the law. Firstly, the seatbelt light comes on and prompts the driver to put on a seatbelt. Next, the driver runs a red light. Finally, the driver hits a pedestrian. In the end of the story, the driver crashes into a construction site and wakes up in the hospital. In the hospital, he is visited by a police officer that places him under arrest. The video ends with the main character waking up and realizing everything is just a dream. The sound in the video is entirely comprised of vocal effects that I made because I think that makes the video sound more personal and unique. I opted to change my idea from animating the Olympics because my first idea had too many moving parts for too little time. I also changed my idea because I had more fun animating this and making a funny story than the other idea. Next time I will be sure to manage my time more effectively so I am able to make the critique on time and hear what people think of my art. I ultimately think that the extra time that I spent on this project was needed for me to be able to formulate my ideas and choose a topic that I had fun to work on.
